The Huddersfield Business School (specifically the Law School) is seeking to appoint a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Law in order to strengthen existing teaching and research in this area.
Sitting within Huddersfield Business School, the Law School already has much to be proud of and is now undergoing a period of sustained development with a new building incorporating a Moot Court and investment in research. The University was named Higher Education University of the Year in 2013 and was one of only two in Yorkshire to achieve a gold award in the Teaching Excellence Framework. In 2014 we were awarded theTimes Higher Education Best University Workplace and gained the Athena SWAN Bronze award in 2015.
With a distinguished history of teaching law and excellent professional links at a regional and national level, we have reached a pivotal point in our history and are expanding our team, investing in the future. You will join a vibrant team dedicated to providing an excellent student experience and achieving excellence in research. A supportive research culture will encourage and support you in achieving your research ambitions, producing high quality outputs, making grant applications and creating impact. You will contribute to teaching law at an undergraduate and postgraduate level, fostering a vibrant and inclusive learning environment that delivers an international, excellent student experience informed by research.
You should hold a good first degree in law, or a related subject (2:1 or above). You will also have a PhD, or be near completion with submission expected within six months of commencement of the post and award within twelve months of submission; a professional qualification in law would be desirable, but is not essential. You should be able to provide evidence of strong research potential and have a coherent research strategy for achieving strong publications and establishing an international reputation.
You will also have a teaching qualification/membership of the HEA, or capacity to obtain membership within 12 months of appointment.
We hope to make two appointments. We welcome applications from candidates who are able to offer teaching and research expertise in any area of law.
