Permanent, Part-time 22.5 hours per week
This is a stimulating and rewarding opportunity for a highly motivated person with substantial experience and expertise in fashion garment construction. You will work closely with other technical and academic staff in your team providing a high level of practical and technical support for the courses within the Department of Design.
Having a relevant qualification in fashion design/and or pattern cutting, you should have a high level of practical experience and expertise in fabric machining, the 'make through' process for many different types of garments. You will be able to assist with the translation of practical and technical issues, and considerations from concept through the construction and making process.
An understanding of pattern cutting, tailoring, manufacturing and CAD for fashion together with experience of working from personal briefs and garment and toile fittings is essential, as is a pro-active approach and being receptive to new ideas.
You should have experience in designing and delivering workshops and demonstrations, have good communication and organisational skills, be receptive to new ideas and be able to work as part of a team across a number of disciplines.
