Fixed term appointment for 3 years with potential for a permanent role within Valuechain
Full time - 37.5 hours per week
The Role
An exciting opportunity has become available for a highly qualified and ambitious graduate/post-graduate to develop machine learning tools for intelligent supply chain modelling, simulation and optimisation to create an intelligent decision-making support system. You will work with Valuechain and University academics to research, design and develop state-of-the-art applications of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence capable of learning, improving and optimising Supply Chain Management processes for clients such as Airbus, Rolls Royce and Bentley Motors. Example applications might include: multi-tier mapping, lessons learnt diagnostics and predictive intelligence, smart analytics, B2B matchmaking, data diagnostics, and digital readiness analysis.
Candidates who have relevant postgraduate qualifications (PhD, MPhil, MSc) and/or research experience in the areas of AI/Data Science are particularly encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate would already have higher level qualifications and be looking to explore industrial, commercial and entrepreneurial opportunities. Although applications from exceptionally ambitious and talented recent graduates will also be considered.
The position is funded through the acclaimed Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP) scheme which is a Government-supported initiative, enabling graduates (KTP Associates) to work on exciting and challenging projects in a partnership between a business and a university. This is an opportunity to fast track your career by managing a strategic project that has the potential to transform the Company.
You will be employed by the University of Huddersfield and will be based at Valuechain's office in Huddersfield, working directly with senior company staff, as well as receiving additional mentoring support from expert University academics.

The Person
You should hold, as a minimum, a 1st or 2:1 honours degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or a closely related discipline. You will need to be a motived self-starter with good verbal and written communication skills along with experience and knowledge of AI/Machine Learning development. You must be inquisitive with the ability to work responsibly, enthusiastically and effectively with people at all levels. You will be self-motivated, well organised and be able to work both independently and as part of a team.
