The School of Applied Sciences offers scholarships to students who meet the eligibility criteria. Please see below for details.

Applied Sciences Academic Scholarship – £1000 for ABB students*

* Eligibility criteria – Students who achieve either (i) ABB at A Level or equivalent and enrol at the University on courses offered by the School of Applied Sciences†; or (ii) who complete the University of Huddersfield’s Science Extended Degree course with an overall mark of 70% or above; and who are not already in receipt of an alternative scholarship or bursary (other than the University of Huddersfield Scholarship) will receive a scholarship of £1000. This will be paid in Year 1 of study in two instalments: £500 upon completion of the first semester with good engagement records (above 90%) and the second instalment of £500 on successful completion of the first year (above 60% on average) with no referrals.


† Scholarships only available for 19/20 and 20/21 entry to full-time undergraduate courses offered by the School of Applied Sciences. Not available for Applied Sciences part-time or postgraduate courses.

Applied Sciences Excellence Scholarship – £3000 (£1000 per year for three years) for AAA or above students**

** Eligibility criteria – Students who achieve either (i) AAA or above at A Level or equivalent and enrol at the University on courses offered by the School of Applied Sciences†; or (ii) who complete the University of Huddersfield’s Science Extended Degree course with an overall mark of 90% or above; and who are not already in receipt of an alternative scholarship or bursary (other than the University of Huddersfield Scholarship) will receive a scholarship of £3000. This will be paid in Years 1, 2 and 3 of study in six equal instalments. In each of the three years, £500 will be paid upon completion of the first semester with good engagement records (above 90%) and the second instalment of £500 will be paid on successful completion of the relevant year of study (above 60% on average) with no referrals. Students who receive the Applied Sciences Excellence Scholarship will not be eligible for the Applied Sciences Academic Scholarship.

‘Should a student, at any point, fall below a threshold for being eligible to receive the scholarship payment for the relevant semester, they will lose their scholarship entitlement.  No further payments of the scholarship will be made in respect of that semester and all future semesters, even if the student’s engagement and/or assessment results subsequently improve’.
