Knowledge Transfer Partnerships are part of a national Government-supported initiative, enabling graduates (KTP Associates) to work on exciting and challenging projects in a partnership between business and universities. This KTP between the University of Huddersfield (Department of Engineering Technology in the School of Computing & Engineering) and Weir Valves and Controls UK Ltd is a 36 month project.
Weir Valves and Controls UK Ltd brings together a group of specialist valve manufacturing companies located across the globe to provide critical service isolation and valves. Weir Valves and Controls Ltd. is a leading world renowned OEM of isolation and control valve products for global energy sector. With a comprehensive range of engineered valve products, Weir Valves and Controls have developed worldwide presence and expertise across a wide range of industry sectors including: Conventional Power Generation, Nuclear Power Generation, Oil and Gas Production, Refining, Chemical and Petro-chemicals.
Your role will be to develop a new series of smart valves capable of adapting to changing service applications through development of a versatile diagnostic and control technology.
You will therefore require technical and management skills as well as the drive and determination to deliver and embed new knowledge into the company. With a 1st or 2:1 honours degree (or preferably postgraduate and/or Ph.D. qualification with fluid dynamics and/or fluid systems design as the main subject) in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or a closely related discipline, you should ideally have at least one year's relevant work experience.
If you are currently registered as a full-time student at the University please note that you may only apply for part-time jobs of 15 hours or less per week.
