The Department of Fashion and Textiles currently offers a dynamic mix of fashion, costume and textiles courses and is committed to promoting high quality research, and teaching and learning which reflects contemporary professional practice, theoretical contexts and fashion industry applications. Our approach to delivering our fashion courses is to blend research-informed insight with contemporary industry practice, placing creativity, enterprise and employability at the heart of our students' learning experience. Our fashion design philosophy is built upon an appreciation of theoretical and contextual issues, creative approaches to design, and deep technical and commercial knowledge.
A creative and enthusiastic individual is required for the post of Professor in Fashion Design to contribute a high level of creative and technical expertise to the design, delivery and teaching and assessment of fashion design.
You will hold a PhD and have relevant experience in a related subject area. Furthermore, significant experience in research and teaching leadership is essential. You will show evidence of considerable professional or academic success within your discipline with specific knowledge of fashion design and associated technical skills.
You should have appropriate teaching experience at HE Level and a strong awareness of Fashion and its relation to context. A strong ability to lead research in this field as well as to curriculum planning and teaching delivery is essential. You will be a clear, confident communicator who can facilitate and build productive working relationships between teams.
You will be joining a dedicated, passionate and forward-thinking team, and will support the Head of Department in a range of professional activities.
If you are currently registered as a full-time student at the University please note that you may only apply for part-time jobs of 15 hours or less per week.
