An opportunity exists for an enthusiastic person to work within the IT Purchasing Team as part of the Computing and Library Services Department which supports the Schools and Services of the University.
The role involves responsibility for procurement in the areas of IT, AV, Network, and the University’s Digital Strategy. This includes ensuring all procurements made in these areas are compliant, managing and running tenders and mini competitions for these categories and creating, and implementing procurement strategies for these areas in conjunction with the Head of Procurement, staff in appropriate Schools/Services and well as senior staff in Computing and Library Services.
The post will also involve working closely with the Desktop Support and IT Purchasing Manager and IT Purchasing Team Leader in providing an effective IT Purchasing service to the University including providing appropriate advice on procurement and purchasing of new systems, hardware and IT services including mobile and software related technologies.
You will have proven experience of working in a busy procurement setting and building good working relationships in a customer-centred environment. You will also have experience of working with electronic tender systems, negotiating with suppliers, and analysing and producing procurement data. You will have a flexible, methodical, and hard-working approach, combined with good oral and written communication skills and be a member of CIPS. The ability to work as part of a team but also at times independently is essential.
