The Social Media Addiction: A Sociological Perspective Online Talk


The UK OFCOM regulator estimates that, on average, citizens will spend 25 hours a week using social media. In this context, the use of social media includes using a mobile phone, watching catch up television, and engaging with other digital platforms. This session will explore the relationship between social media and the sociology discipline, and ask the question: why we are hooked on social media? It will be followed by a talk looking at UCAS extra and clearing, what these terms mean, and how students can navigate it to get the best outcome.
